Mark Byrne was on target to break Barnet's three-game losing streak against Macclesfield with a 1-0 win on Saturday.
Byrne scored in the 2-1 defeat at Stockport last week and grabbed the decisive goal after just eight minutes at Underhill. The Bees were totally dominant in the first half and went ahead when Byrne flicked George Francomb's throughball over the last defender before finishing high into Jose Veiga's left-hand corner. Important last-ditch challenges from the Silkmen backline prevented a wasteful Barnet from adding to their lead with Nat Brown blocking Mark Marshall in the 17th minute and Aristote Nsiala denying Mauro Vilhete's four minutes later. Immediately after half-time the Silkmen created their first real opportunity - Ross Draper firing narrowly wide with Bees keeper Jake Cole well beaten. The visitors kept pressing as the half wore on, with Jordan Parkes needing to make a goalline clearance from Brown's thumping header. Barnet were indebted to Cole again late on when he saved brilliantly from substitute Hamza Bencherif and Tyrone Barnett as the home side clung on for the three points.
