Robinson equalises after Lester's early goal
Jack Lester's 22nd goal of the season was not enough for Chesterfield as Jake Robinson struck to earn Aldershot a 1-1 draw and put a dent in the home side's play-off hopes.
Former Grimsby star Lester pounced for his fifth goal in three games before the break but Robinson led a spirited Aldershot fightback to share the points.
Lester struck in the seventh minute when he latched onto Peter Till's through ball and calmly lifted the ball over the onrushing Mikhael Jaimez-Ruiz.
The Shots almost hit back a minute later through Reading loanee Scott Davies's chip before Till wasted a golden chance to make it two after good work from Lester.
Drew Talbot and Derek Niven went close as the Spireites dominated but the home side sprung into the life in the 40th minute when Robinson had a shot cleared off the line by Danny Hall.
The Shots roared out of the blocks after the break and drew level on 52 minutes when skipper Anthony Charles headed a Davies corner goalwards and Robinson stabbed home from close range.
The impressive Niven saw a 66th minute volley strike the foot of Jaimez-Ruiz's post as the visitors pressed for the winner but they had to settle for a share of the spoils.
