Ruiz and De Jong on target against Den Haag
FC Twente moved to the Eredivisie summit on Friday night courtesy of a 2-1 victory away to ADO Den Haag.
Den Haag have been one of the surprise packages in Holland this season and were looking to pick up a win of their own that would have boosted their European hopes.
There was nothing to choose between the sides in a goalless first half, before the deadlock was broken by Twente's Bryan Ruiz just after the hour mark.
Dimitri Bulykin equalised for Den Haag in the 70th minute and it looked like the teams would have to settle for a point apiece as the clock ticked down.
However, Luuk de Jong struck in the 86th minute to secure a vital success for Twente and leave Den Haag fifth.
Twente's victory puts the pressure back onto PSV Eindhoven, who are three points behind but have a superior goal difference going into Sunday's clash with Feyenoord.
