Tour de Suisse: Peter Sagan sprints to victory on stage three as Tony Martin retains lead

Peter Sagan claimed his sixth win of the season by sprinting to victory on stage three of the Tour de Suisse as Tony Martin retained his overall lead.
Sagan edged home favourite Michael Albasini into second place on an uphill finish in Heiden, with Team Sky’s Sergio Henao rounding out the podium in third.
Martin, who took the race lead by winning stage one’s time trial, followed in a severely reduced peloton five seconds later to consolidate his six-second lead over Tom Dumoulin in the general classification.

Sagan, who now has nine Tour de Suisse stage victories to his name, moves up to third overall, eight seconds further back.
Sir Bradley Wiggins dropped out of the main bunch in the closing kilometres and eventually crossed the line 2min 25sec down on Sagan in 74th place. He now lies 56th overall, 2min 52sec adrift of Martin.
Fellow Team Sky rider Peter Kennaugh remains the highest-placed Briton in the standings in 11th, 29 seconds off the pace.
