Golovkin vs Brook: Kell Brook taken to hospital after stoppage
Sunday 11 September 2016 14:17, UK
Kell Brook was taken to hospital after suffering a broken eye socket during his fight with Gennady Golovkin.
Dominic Ingle threw in the towel in the fifth round at The O2 Arena on Saturday night after seeing Brook's vision had become severely impaired.
Brook admits he wanted to keep to carry on trading blows with Golovkin but insists it will not stop his determination to get back in the ring.
Brook moved up two weight divisions to face Golovkin and even though he called for a fight of the winner of Saul Canelo Alvarez v Liam Smith, he admits that he may now be better suited to light middleweight in his next fight, despite having an IBF title to defend at welterweight.
"In the second round, he broke my eye socket but I was tricking him, I was frustrating him. I was starting to settle into it but when you see three, four, five of them, it's difficult," said Brook.

"He's a scary champion but I would fight him again. I'm trying to give back to the fans and I hope they enjoyed the fight while it lasted.

"I was starting to come on. We knew the first five or six rounds would be tough, but you would have to talk to my coach to ask him why he pulled me out. I'll be back."
