Shane Mosley believes conditioner Alex Ariza can make a real difference to Floyd Mayweather's punching power.

Floyd Mayweather could struggle to deal with Manny Pacquiao’s southpaw attack, insists ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley.

The welterweights will collide in the richest fight of all time on May 2, live on Sky Sports Box Office, and the fight has been analysed by Mosley, who lost unanimous decisions to Mayweather and Pacquiao in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

Mosley believes he has found a chink in the undefeated American’s armour that has been briefly threatened in the past by other southpaw challengers who ultimately succumbed to defeat.

“I think in the past, Floyd has had trouble with southpaws who lean in with their right hand,” he told Ringside. “That could work in Pacquiao’s favour.

“It doesn’t work as much but he’s had a lot of practice with southpaws, he’s worked with DeMarcus ‘Chop Chop’ Corley who he fought and Zab Judah who he fought, and who gave him problems.”

But Mosley doesn’t agree with the assertions of Freddie Roach, Pacquiao’s trainer, that Mayweather’s ageing legs are gradually slowing down to his detriment.

Looking at him work in the gym and hit the bag, it doesn’t look like his legs are the same but they are good enough to evade Pacquiao.

And ‘Sugar’ has given his overall backing to his compatriot, although conceded that the Filipino’s dangerous striking could render his prediction incorrect.

“Looking at him work in the gym and hit the bag, it doesn’t look like his legs are the same but they are good enough to evade Pacquiao,” he said.

“On May 2 it will be all Floyd – but I’m still not sure because I know Pacquiao has punching power. He has a sneaky left hand that, if Floyd gets too confident which he could, he could get caught. It’s like he doesn’t throw it at all until you find yourself on the canvas.”
