Reigning world champion Jamie McDonnell says Kell Brook will be motivated by the prospect of lucrative fights ahead, when he takes on Jo Jo Dan in his home city of Sheffield on Saturday.
Brook makes his first defence of the IBF welterweight title against Canada-based Romanian Dan at the Motorpoint Arena and McDonnell says he expects his fellow Yorkshireman to register another victory.
McDonnell, whose next fight takes place in San Antonio in May when he faces Tomoki Kameda of Japan, said: “Kell’s up for it.
“He’s got some big fights in this division (to come) and that will motivate him.
“I haven’t seen much of Jo Jo Dan but I’m sure Kell will pull it off and will be looking at those big fights ahead and that is what will get him through this one. Especially it being back in Sheffield.”

McDonnell said of Gavin: “When I won my European title in 2010, no one knew much about it, but when I did he said ‘I’m going to win one also bruv’ and this is his big chance.
“I got him back into boxing and he’ll prove he’s going to be a future world champion.”
