Marcos retains interim-WBA light welterweight title
Marcos Maidana retained his interim-WBA light welterweight title but was given a major scare by DeMarcus Corley in Buenos Aries.
Maidana was taken the distance for only the third time in his career before claiming a uninamous verdict, 117-110, 115-112, 115-112.
Corley was sent to the canvas in the eighth round but was up on the count of nine and somehow managed to get through to the bell.
He continued to stand and trade with his hard-hitting opponent but eventually sank to his tenth defeat in his last 16 fights.
Maidana is now hoping for a crack at Amir Khan with talk of a December bout.
