Whyte vs Browne: Lucas Browne feeling no pressure ahead of heavyweight clash
Tuesday 20 March 2018 18:05, UK
Lucas Browne says he is relishing the underdog tag and admits that all the pressure is on Dillian Whyte to "put on a show" when the rivals clash at The O2.
The two heavyweights sit on the cusp of a world title shot as they prepare to go toe to toe in London this Saturday night, live on Sky Sports.
Knockout artist Browne is confident that he has the tools to beat his British rival and stresses that his right hand could end the contest at any point.
"I'm feeling great, I've had a great camp overall and am very excited," the Australian told Sky Sports.
"My win over [Ruslan] Chagaev was meant to be that step in the right direction, that didn't happen, so this is that step again.
"I love big, competitive, fights and also the exposure, the UK has given that to me.
"I'm going into this as an underdog but that's better for me, I have no stress. Whyte has to put on a good show, I just have to turn up and beat him.
"It's going to be a knockout win, that's the only prediction I am going to give."
'Big Daddy' has only fought once since his WBA world title win over Chagaev in early 2016, but the unbeaten powerhouse is assured of his ability.
"As a fighter, Whyte's OK, but I think I'm better and have more tools," he continued.
"Physically, he's a big boy with a long reach and good work rate. He will bring that, but can he keep up with my pace and power?
"He has to stay away from my right hand and my left now for 12 rounds. If I land a nice, good, shot it could change everything.
"As a person I don't know him, he could be doing his thing for the camera or it could be him. I don't like the person in front of the camera, that's why we don't get along."
