Sky Tickets: watch some of the best boxing prospects at York Hall
Sunday 7 February 2016 15:39, UK
Ed Robinson sets the scene as the British Lionhearts get ready to take on the USA, Mexico and Morocco at the York Hall.
Sitting ringside for the big fights isn't cheap but what if you could see a potential world champion or Olympic gold medallist box live, from a great seat, in an historic venue, for just £15?
That's basically the deal with the WSB when the British Lionhearts compete at the York Hall in Bethnal Green. The WSB - or World Series of Boxing - is a hybrid of elite amateur and professional boxing.
Those competing keep their amateur status but are paid to fight other highly ranked fighters from teams all over the planet. The bouts are over a longer distance, with no head-guards, but success can lead to qualification for Rio this year.

Each fixture consists of five bouts, with varying weight classes. Boxers are looking for individual victories and for team wins that count in an ongoing points tournament.
The East End venue itself is a must 'live experience' for any boxing fan. Noisy, intimate, atmospheric, with the balcony seats almost dripping into the ring, the York Hall is an amazing place.
One of the first shows that we attended was three years ago when the Lionhearts faced a Ukrainian Otamans team that featured two athletes who had struck gold at London 2012.
Vasyl Lomachenko went on to capture a world professional title in his third pro fight. Oleksandr Usyk is considered one of the best prospects out there at any weight.
The latest Lionhearts Team includes Sky Scholar Jack Bateson, Olympic Super-Heavyweight hope Joe Joyce and Mersyside's Middleweight puncher Anthony Fowler among others.
Just recently, Pat McCormack, Harvey Horn and Lawrence Okolie all carried the team to a memorable win in America. American sensation Shakur Stevenson beat the talented Peter McGrail on that show and I'm really hoping he comes to the UK for the return.
This year, the Lionhearts face the Mexico Guerreros on the February 18, the USA Knockouts on March 3 and the Morocco Atlas Lions on March 17.
A season ticket for all three shows costs just £30, with no booking fee, through Sky Tickets. I'd highly recommend a visit.
