Jamie Cox insists he is the best super-middleweight in the country after a spectacular first defence of his European title in Dublin on Saturday night.

The 29-year-old from Swindon (20-0-KO8) needed just 68 seconds to stop Hungarian challenger Ferenc Albert to make it three successive first-round stoppages.

The unbeaten southpaw dropped Albert with an explosive right hook which he got up from at the count of eight from referee Mickey Vann, but was then flattened moments later with another right hook, with the official this time stopping the count after just two.

With Callum Smith stopping Rocky Fielding on the same night in Liverpool to further underline his credentials as a future world champion at 168lbs, Cox was quick to talk up his own chances.

I'll fight anyone at 168lbs in the world right now - give me the opportunity and I'll prove it ... that's a promise

"That's a hat-trick of first round knockouts, no one can doubt my power at this weight," Cox told frankwarren.com.

"If that was with Smith or Fielding in there tonight they'd have been knocked out as well. The winner out of those two is not the best in the country and the public know it - I have too much power for them. I'm the best and when I get my chance I'll prove it.

"After being out of the ring for a while, I've returned this year with three first round knockouts ... I mean serious business at super-middleweight and I'm going to win a world title.

Jamie Conlan runs to his corner as he stops Adrian Dimas Garzon

Super-flyweight Jamie Conlan stopped Adrian Dimas Garzon in four rounds with rival Paul Butler watching on from ringside ahead of a potential clash between the two next year.

Conlan (15-0-KO9) dropped Argentine Garzon in the fourth round with a crunching body shot and after getting up, the Ulsterman piled on the pressure with Garzon on the ropes and the referee intervened to stop the fight.

"It was good to get Garzon out of there early," said 28-year-old Conlan.

"I like to please the crowd as they pay good hard earned money to see me fight and they got the result they wanted when I stopped Garzon.

"The talk will be of Butler next and I hope it happens. At this weight, without a lot of big names, we need each other and that would be one hell of a fight.

"I'm glad he made it over to Dublin to see me fight tonight and the next time I want to see him is when we're in the ring together.

"I know I can beat him. He's fast, but I'm faster ... he can punch, but I can puncher harder. I know I'm just that little bit better than him in every department."

India's boxing sensation Vijender Singh destroyed Dean Gillen inside one round in his second professional outing.

Singh followed up his pro debut last month, when he smashed Sonny Whiting in Manchester, with another destructive display, but in less than half the time, as he pummelled Nottingham's Gillen with big right hands.

"Wow, that was quick man!" said Singh.

"I felt very comfortable in there and lined him up with my jabs first to get the range, but then when I started connecting with the right I knew it was only a matter of time before I caught him properly.

"I said that after the first fight I'd improve and I think that I showed some of the development and improvement tonight, but there's a lot more to come from me."

On the undercard, Belfast featherweight Ciaran McVarnock outpointed Swindon's Joe Beeden 40-36 after dropping him twice in the first round and again in the fourth.

Lightweight Jamie Kavanagh stopped Hungarian Oszkar Fiko in the seventh round of their scheduled eight-round international contest.
