Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry has been named Most Valuable Player in the NBA.
Curry set a single-season record for three point shots made during the regular season and led the league's best team in scoring, assists and steals.
He is only the second Warriors player to be named MVP, more than 50 years after the franchise's last recipient, the legendary Wilt Chamberlain in 1959-60 when they were still based in Philadelphia.
Curry claimed 100 of the 130 first-place votes cast by sports writers and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada, with his final total of 1,198 points more than 200 better than runner-up James Harden of the Houston Rockets.
Harden was voted top player in the league on just five ballots, with the other five first-place votes going to Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James, who finished third overall in the voting.
The top five was completed by Oklahoma Thunders guard Russell Westbrook and New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis.
Curry made 286 three-pointers during the regular season, breaking his own record of 272 set back in 2012-13.
With Curry leading the way, the Warriors became only the 10th team in the league's history to win at least 67 games in a season.
They have since swept the Pelicans in the opening round of the play-offs and beat the Memphis Grizzlies 101-86 in the first game of their second round series, Curry scoring 22 points and adding seven assists.
