Our team of the week is dominated by Premiership and PRO12 players after an entertaining start to the domestic season.

Glasgow thumped defending PRO12 champions Connacht, Bath were impressive winners over Northampton while Ulster proved too strong for the Dragons.

Both sides have three representatives in our XV, with two Saracens also featuring following their crushing of Worcester at Twickenham.

15. Stuart Hogg (Glasgow Warriors)

The Scotland full-back started the season in style with a man-of-the-match performance in Glasgow's win over defending PRO12 champions Connacht.

Hogg created two first-half tries for Tommy Seymour and crossed himself after the interval as the Warriors stormed to victory. The 24-year-old made 76 metres from nine carries and beat two defenders, and he also provided further entertainment for Sky Sports viewers by donning player mic.

Gaetan Germain also deserves a mention after kicking 20 points in Brive's shock win at Toulon.

14. Robert Lyttle (Ulster)

JP Pietersen bagged a try on his Leicester debut but Ulster winger Lyttle gets the nod after making a big contribution in his first competitive game for the province.

Introduced for the injured Craig Gilroy after 12 minutes against the Dragons, 19-year-old Lyttle scored 10 minutes later when he pounced on a defensive error, and he bagged a second with 14 minutes remaining when Charles Piutau put him over in the corner. A young player with a big future.

13. Geoffrey Doumayrou (Stade Francais)

Saturday's live rugby coverage on Sky got off to a rip-roaring start as Stade and Clermont played out a 30-30 thriller in Paris, with Doumayrou crossing for two tries in the opening 16 minutes.

For his first, Doumayrou kicked in behind Scott Spedding and then burned the France full-back for pace to dot down in the corner. And he caught Clermont napping for his second, taking a quick tap penalty and chipping over the visiting defence to score.

Doumayrou turned provider for Stade's third try, beating two defenders before sending Djibril Camara racing down the line. He made a total of 62 metres from eight carries and made eight tackles before departing on the hour mark, eclipsing Matt Scott's two-try debut for Gloucester.

12. Jimmy Gopperth (Wasps)

All eyes were on the returning Danny Cipriani but it was Gopperth who stole the show on against Exeter on Sunday. The former Leinster fly-half sprinted over for Wasps' first try on 32 minutes and added two conversions and two penalties for a 15-point haul.

Gopperth averaged 7.4 metres from his eight carries and made nine tackles in defence, winning one turnover.

11. Tommy Seymour (Glasgow Warriors)

Seymour starred as Glasgow's back three sliced the Connacht defence open in Galway. He scored two tries, beat six defenders and made four breaks in an excellent 80-minute performance.

10. Joey Carbery (Leinster)

The 20-year-old fly-half scored two tries on his first start as Leinster defeated Treviso in their PRO12 opener. Carbery made 10 carries for a team-high 109 metres, more than a fifth of the total distance covered by Leinster with ball in hand.

Add to that two tries, nine tackles - the highest of the Leinster backline - and six defenders beaten and it was a full debut to remember by the Auckland-born No 10.

Mentions must go to Tusi Pisi as Bristol went agonisingly close to a win at Twickenham on their Premiership return, and George Ford for kicking all of Bath's points in their win at Northampton.

9. Sam Harrison (Leicester Tigers)

Ruan Pienaar started his final season in Ulster colours with a fine display against the Dragons but Harrison gets the scrum-half berth after inspiring Leicester's stunning comeback win at Gloucester.

Richard Cockerill described Harrison as "the heart and soul of the club" and he scored two tries and kicked two conversions as the Tigers registered 31 unanswered second-half points at Kingsholm.

Harrison had his forwards to thank for his first on 56 minutes following a driving lineout, and after switching to fly-half he converted Brendon O'Connor's try to level matters before crossing for his second five-pointer at the death to snatch victory.

1. Nathan Catt (Bath)

The loosehead produced an outstanding defensive display as Bath held Northampton scoreless while he was on the pitch. Made 10 tackles, missing none, and formed part of an impressive Bath scrum as Todd Blackadder got off to a winning start.

2. Rob Herring (Ulster)

Herring played the full 80 minutes as Ulster stormed to victory over the Dragons. He was faultless at the lineout, with all 16 throws finding a team-mate. He also impressed in the loose, making six tackles, 12 carries and crossed for his side's fifth try eight minutes from time.

Sam Parry is unlucky to miss out after scoring a hat-trick against Zebre while Tommy Taylor also deserves a mention for his impressive try-scoring debut for Wasps.

3. Henry Thomas (Bath)

Bath's tight five kept the Saints pack out of the game and Thomas was heavily involved. As well as working hard in the scrum, shoving Northampton off their own ball, the tighthead also made nine tackles, won two turnovers and made six carries.

4. Dave Attwood (Bath)

It is difficult to choose between Attwood and second row partner Charlie Ewels after putting in a great shift at Franklin's Gardens. Both made 14 tackles, missing one, but we've gone with Attwood due to his five lineouts and one turnover won.

5. Jonny Gray (Glasgow Warriors)

Highlights of Glasgow's landslide win over Connacht

Gray was excellent as Glasgow won the battle up front against Connacht. He made 15 tackles, missing none and winning one turnover, claimed four throws at the lineout and also stole one of Connacht's.

6. Clive Ross (Ulster)

Ross got off to a shaky start when Dragons wing Pat Howard beat him to score but he atoned for that with an all-consuming performance.

A cousin of Ireland and Leinster tighthead Mike, the 27-year-old was excellent in defence, completing all nine tackles and winning two turnovers.

He claimed two of Rob Herring's lineout throws and was busy in attack, making 14 carries, more than any other Ulster forward, and beat three defenders.

7. Schalk Burger (Saracens)

The Springboks flanker had a fine debut at Twickenham, scoring Saracens' third try and topping the tackle charts for the defending champions.

The 33-year-old looks to have already developed a good understanding with fellow South African Schalk Brits and proved a useful option in the lineout and driving mauls.

8. Billy Vunipola (Saracens)

Just the 23 carries from the bulldozing No 8 at Twickenham, 11 more than any of his team-mates. He made a team-high 77 metres, beat five defenders and threw six offloads as Saracens overcame a scrappy first half to thump Worcester.

Thomas Waldrom deserves a mention for bagging a try against Wasps while Nick Williams impressed on his debut for Cardiff Blues.
