York hit back for a draw

York battled back from 2-0 down to rescue a point in a 2-2 draw against Cambridge.

The Minstermen started brightly and went close to taking the lead inside the opening minute with an unmarked Keith Lowe heading against the post. Despite York's dominance, the U's raced into a commanding lead with two goals in ten minutes. Tom Elliott nodded the visitors in front on 27 minutes, before later winning a penalty which Kwesi Appiah calmly dispatched. However, Cambridge's comfortable lead would only last six minutes with Jake Hyde halving the deficit as he turned Michael Coulson's cross beyond Chris Dunn at the near post. York put the visitors under intense pressure as they looked to restore parity and it took a fine reflex save from Dunn to keep the scores level as Luke Summerfield's shot deflected off Hyde. Eight minutes from time York finally found their equaliser with Wes Fletcher scoring from the penalty spot after Josh Coulson hauled him down in the area.
