Burton kept up their 100 per cent start to the season as Stuart Beavon steered them to a 1-0 victory over winless Exeter.
Former Wycombe striker Beavon struck four minutes before the break to secure Burton's fourth win of the campaign. The Brewers could have been ahead inside two minutes but Grecians goalkeeper Christy Pym produced a flying save to keep out a fierce shot by John Mousinho and then held onto a volley from the same player. The hosts needed rescuing themselves by keeper Jon McLaughlin in the 12th minute after Robbie Weir's ill-judged back header handed a chance to full debutant Graham Cummins. Pym produced another outstanding fingertip save to keep out a powerful Lucas Akins header in the 29th minute. But the teenager was left helpless in the 41st minute when Beavon lashed in a 10-yard shot after the Grecians failed to deal with Callum McFadzean's long throw-in. Pym was tested by a Robbie Weir shot after the break as Burton picked up where they left off. Exeter produced a spell of late pressure but Scot Bennett's header was scrambled to safety as their poor start to the new campaign continued.Beavon sees off Exeter
