FA Cup first round: Cambridge v Basingstoke preview

Caretaker boss Joe Dunne could make changes when Cambridge host National League South side Basingstoke in the FA Cup first round on Saturday.

Richard Money, who led United back into the Football League and secured an FA Cup fourth-round replay with Manchester United last season, was sacked on Monday.

Defender Josh Coulson could be in contention to start after being on the bench last week following his calf problem.

Leon Legge (groin) could also come into the reckoning after nearing a return to training, but midfielder Keith Keane is expected to miss out again.

Meanwhile, Basingstoke manager Jason Bristow insists there is no pressure on his side but he has no doubts the hosts will have one eye on his star striker Chris Flood.

Flood has netted six times already in the FA Cup and Bristow is keen to see the 25-year-old strut his stuff.

"We are not just going to enjoy the occasion," Bristow told the Basingstoke Gazette. "We want to win the game and get into the next round.

"Chris is having a great season for us and works really hard for the team in ever game. I am sure he will be one of the players Cambridge will be looking to stop."

The Dragons boss has a full squad to pick from, aside for midfielder Jamie Brown (groin), and will be looking to go one better than last year's first-round replay defeat against Telford.
