Jamie Carragher says Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista was "terrified" of Crystal Palace's Christian Benteke on Monday night.
The Sky Sports pundit picked out the Arsenal defender as Andros Townsend went on to score in the 17th minute, and noticed how Gabriel looked scared of Benteke in the build-up.
The Gunners' defending was again under the spotlight as Yohan Cabaye hit home just after the hour mark, with Carragher scathing of their efforts.
"Look at Gabriel's eyes against Benteke. The striker only has eyes for the ball but Gabriel is absolutely terrified," the former Liverpool defender said on Monday Night Football.
"One challenge from Gabriel for the second goal is a cowards challenge. Do I expect Aaron Ramsey or Nacho Monreal to win the ball? No, but do I expect them to challenge, yes. When the ball drops, Ramsey has a little flick of the leg and Monreal does too. It's embarrassing.
"That sums up Arsenal's centre-backs today and for the last ten years. We talked about the West Brom game and how poor that was - this first half has been equally as bad."
