Championship aim for Crawley Town as Ziya Eren closes on takeover

Ziya Eren is close to completing a takeover of Crawley Town and he has set his sights on guiding the Sussex club into the Championship over the next decade.

The Turkish businessman, who is president of Turkish side Kayseri Erciyesspor, has been in the process of buying the Sky Bet League 2 team since the end of January and has now reached the advance stages of the takeover.

Eren has thanked the Red Devils' fans for their support so far and has revealed his ambitions for the club.

He said: "We are currently in the advanced stages of completing the takeover of Crawley Town Football Club.

"Firstly I want to thank all the fans for their fantastic and heart-warming support for the takeover. The excitement and positive response of the fans has been humbling and I hope for a long positive relationship with the great supporters.

"The Football League has asked for updated documents, which will be submitted today (Friday). All that has been asked of us has been provided promptly without delay.

"The current board and benefactor are due their praise for their efforts, time and financial input to bring this club into the Football League. Personally I thank them for all their achievements.

"Truthfully, I am very excited about this new journey and chapter that is ahead of us. Hard work, determination, togetherness and unity with the fans are the desired elements for a successful Crawley Town Football Club. 

"Eight to 10 years is our target for the Championship. The first 18 months will be dedicated to improving the financial and sporting stability of the club. New strategies, methods and ideas will be put in place to reach optimum performance on all fronts.

"There is no intention to change any logo, name or colour but in fact to increase the affinity, love, recognition and passion towards Crawley Town Football Club."
