Sochaux remain in the Ligue 1 relegation zone heading into the winter break after slipping to their fifth away defeat of the season at Toulouse. Adrien Regattin put the hosts in front in the first half with a superb free-kick and Emmanuel Riviere sealed the win five minutes from time. After a quiet opening to the game, Toulouse threatened first on 21 minutes when Etienne Didot swung in a right-wing cross which defender Jonathan Zebina met with a header which brought a decent save from Simon Pouplin. But there was little Pouplin could do five minutes later when Regattin fired home a 20-yard free-kick which found the top corner via the crossbar to open the scoring. Sochaux were struggling to create any clear chances and their efforts were summed up on 39 minutes when Sebastien Corchia found some room in the area only to slip at the last second and fire a left-foot shot over the bar. At the other end, Pouplin was forced into a diving save from Regattin's shot just before the half-time whistle. Sochaux continued to find chances hard to come by in the second half, with Vincent Noguiera trying his luck from long range but shooting over the bar. The visitors thought they should have had a penalty with 10 minutes remaining when Loic Poujol's cross appeared to hit Etienne Capoue's arm, but the referee waved play on. And the contest was over five minutes later as Didot found Riviere at the near post and he flicked the ball up before smashing a left-foot volley into the roof of the net.Sochaux lose at Toulouse
