Dundee United have announced the immediate departure of defender Gavin Gunning.

A short statement from the Scottish Premiership club said Gunning's contract had been cancelled by mutual consent and that no further comment would be made.

Gunning, who previously played at Tannadice between 2011 and 2014, rejoined from Oldham in November last year and made 20 appearances in his second spell.
