Marvin Morgan's fifth goal of the season ensured Aldershot maintained their promotion push with a 2-1 victory at the expense of Morecambe.
Morgan's curling effort in the first half put the Shots at arms length after Damian Spencer had broken the deadlock in the 27th minute. Scott Brown grabbed one back for the Shrimpers but it was too little for Sammy McIlroy's men. Paul Mullin squandered Morecambe's first chance of the game early on but it was all Aldershot after that. Spencer took advantage of some slack defending to nod home Marlon Jackson's teasing cross in the 27th minute. It was 2-0 nine minutes later as Morgan's stunning individual effort sailed past the helpless Barry Roche. Morecambe refused to give up without a fight and Brown made it a nervy ending by crashing home from long range after 66 minutes. Mark Duffy and Stewart Drummond both wasted chances to equalise as the game drew to a close but the Shots held on for the victory.Morgan strike sinks Shrimps
