Brighton have signed Austria international left-back Markus Suttner from Ingolstadt for an undisclosed fee.
The 30-year-old had been with the German side for the last two seasons, playing 41 times in the Bundesliga, but he was unable to stop them from being relegated last season.
He has signed a three-year deal with the Seagulls.
Suttner, capped 18 times by Austria, had spent the remainder of his career with Austria Vienna, coming through their youth ranks and going on to make more than 250 senior appearances for the club.
He becomes the second Ingolstadt player to join Brighton ahead of their first season in the Premier League, boss Chris Hughton having also signed midfielder Pascal Gross over the summer.
After finalising his move, Suttner told Sky Sports News HQ: "It is very cool. It takes a few weeks with the clubs speaking but now it is done and I am very happy to see the players and the team. Hopefully we will have fun and we will have success.
"At the end of the season, I heard for the first time [about Brighton's interest] and it was clear I wanted to do it because it is the Premier League and Brighton are a good team with good players.
"The Premier League is more physical and it is faster football. In the next few weeks I will be training hard to become part of the team.
"Last season with Ingolstadt we played with a five-man defence. Now we will play with four in the defence so I think cannot be so I can't go forward as much but when I am there I want to score or make a cross and I hope I can help with my set-pieces."
Suttner is Hughton's fourth addition, with Gross and Valencia goalkeeper Matthew Ryan joining their senior squad while Celtic youngster Josh Kerr links up with their U23 squad.
