Port Vale and Macclesfield battled to a 2-2 draw at Vale Park on New Year's Day.
A share of the spoils means Vale are three points off the play-off spots, whilst the Silkmen are three points above the relegation zone.
Macclesfield have failed to win in nine league games, a run which stretches back to October.
Joe Ironside missed a gilt-edged chance to give the visitors the lead when he nodded over from point-blank range.
David Worrall handed Vale the lead in fortunate fashion as his cross evaded everyone in the penalty area to nestle in the top corner.
The game sprung into life in a six-minute spell after the break. Jay Harris produced a screamer to equalise for the struggling Silkmen in the 56th minute.
And moments later, Daryl McMahon's side had gone from trailing to leading when Ironside found the back of the net.
But the lead did not last long as David Amoo smashed home Cristian Montano's cross in the 62nd minute.
Vale striker Tom Pope made a match-saving block on the line to secure a point for John Askey's side.
