Swansea's Sam Clucas has handed his boss Carlos Carvalhal a timely boost after being cleared to play in their Premier League match against West Brom on Saturday following a knee injury.

The midfielder had to be substituted in their 2-0 loss to Manchester United last weekend and was expected to miss the game at The Hawthorns on Saturday.

Clucas has scored three goals this season with two coming in their 3-1 victory over Arsenal at the Liberty Stadium in January.

"Clucas is ready and 100 per cent," said Carvalhal. "He did a good recovery, our medical department did very good work with him.

"I was very concerned it was about the external ligaments and it was very painful on the day, but the next day when we came back to training he was much, much better with little pain.

"The pain disappeared and the scan showed nothing special."

Renato Sanches and Angel Rangel both remain out while Jordan Ayew serves the final game of his three-match ban.

According to Sky sources, Swansea have started informal talks with Carvalhal over extending his contract. When the 52-year-old arrived in December the club were five points from safety.

They now sit in 15th, three points clear of the drop zone, with seven games remaining in the season.
