Newport 2-0 Oldham: County move into play-off places

Highlights of the Sky Bet League Two match between Newport and Oldham.

Newport climbed into the play-off places in Sky Bet League Two thanks to a 2-0 win over Oldham at Rodney Parade.

Two seasons after they went into the last game of the season with their Football League status hanging by a thread Michael Flynn's side are now a win away at Morecambe on Saturday from extending their season.

And it was the man who rescued them with his 90th-minute goal against Notts County in the final game of the season two years ago who did it again.

Captain Mark O'Brien broke the deadlock in the 48th minute with an unstoppable shot from 15 yards to notch only his second goal for the club.

Chances were at a premium in a tight first half, but County grew more into the game after O'Brien had given them the lead and Robbie Willmott made the three points safe in the 79th minute with a left-foot shot from the edge of the area.
