Norwich manager Alex Neil was left disappointed by a controversial disallowed goal in his side’s 3-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace.
The newly-promoted Canaries thought they had levelled the match at 2-2 when Cameron Jerome turned the ball into the net.
However, the goal was chalked off due to a high boot and Palace went on to secure all three points from the opening day fixture.
"It’s disappointing and frustrating," Neil told Sky Sports. "For large spells we played relatively well and there was a key moment when it could have been 2-2 but we had a goal disallowed.
"I thought he (the referee) disallowed it for handball as I couldn’t see it but then when I found out it was for a high foot I was extremely disappointed because more often than not those goals are given."
Norwich also had a late call for a penalty waved away when Connor Wickham appeared to push Sebastien Bassong in the box.
"The lads are saying Seb was pushed from behind," said Neil. "Sometimes the decisions don’t go your way and we didn’t get the rub of the green today.
"I didn’t think we were that bad. We played relatively well but it’s fine margins and decision making at key times that will be the difference between getting three points and getting none."
The game marked Norwich’s return to the top-flight after they won promotion through the Championship play-offs last season.
And even though they came away empty-handed, Neil said there were positives to take from the match.
"I take encouragement from the way we played," he commented. "We moved the ball well at times but some of the goals we conceded were sloppy on our part which was disappointing.
"We have to improve on that and I don’t think a couple of decisions went our way as well."
