And having scored four goals on the road in consecutive top-flight matches for the first time since 1960, the Argentinian thinks his players will go into the London derby in high spirits.

"It will be tough (to stop Chelsea). They are showing very good qualities, they are a very good team with a lot of confidence. It will be tough, but we will try to take the three points.

"We are on a very good run, too, with confidence after a few games, but we expect a very tough game, for both teams, but we will try and challenge them and get the three points."

"We did not keep a clean sheet, but that was only at the end, but it was a good performance," he said. "I am very pleased and the first half was one of our best performances of the season.

"I am very happy, it was a very difficult game and it is a hard place to come to, the conditions and the team responded very well.

"We were just talking in the dressing room that you can see the players enjoying playing today, which is not often you can say that. And that for me is one of the biggest positives from today."

One of the many other positives for Spurs was the impressive performance of Kieran Trippier, who replaced the suspended Kyle Walker at right-back and created both of Harry Kane's first-half goals.

"I am very happy for him, he struggled in the last few months for different reasons, he is in a very good condition and today he showed a very good performance, good skills," he said.

"And I am happy because football is about the team and collective and that makes us more competitive."

The game was so one-sided that Pochettino was even able to substitute the likes of Kane, Dele Alli, who also scored two goals, and left-back Danny Rose ahead of Chelsea's visit.

"In three days we have a very important game and it is a very busy period now, so if you have the opportunity to rest, it is important, but we need to know we have a lot of important games coming up in a busy period," he said.

"So every game it is important to be fresh and competitive."
