Defender Calum Chambers is in advanced talks with Arsenal over a new contract, according to Sky sources, and an announcement is expected within the next week.
The 23-year-old signed a contract extension last year but is clearly highly regarded by new manager Unai Emery and the Gunners appear keen to agree a long-term deal.
Capped three times by England, the centre-back was in and out of the team under former boss Arsene Wenger and spent 2016-17 on loan with Middlesbrough.
Arsenal originally signed Chambers from Southampton in 2014 and he made his full England debut later that year.
Gunners defensive mainstay Laurent Koscielny is facing a spell on the sidelines due to injury.
But, having agreed a long-term deal with Rob Holding, the London club are keen to secure the services of Chambers and are also closing in on a deal for Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
