Lazar Markovic has moved from Liverpool to Sporting Lisbon on a season-long loan deal.

The Serbia international winger spent last season on loan with Turkish side Fenerbahce, but suffered injury problems and did not play after February having made 14 appearances.

Markovic spent the 2014/15 season at Liverpool under Brendan Rodgers. He made 19 appearances in the Premier League and scored twice, with strikes against Sunderland and Tottenham.

The 22-year-old joined Liverpool from Benfica for £20m in July 2014 a year after an impressive youth career at Partizan Belgrade where he scored 13 goals in 46 league matches in a span stretching two-and-a-half years.

Markovic was part of Jurgen Klopp's pre-season squads but now joins a Sporting Lisbon side consisting of ex-Premier League players Joel Campbell, Sebastian Coates and Bryan Ruiz.
