Jurgen Klopp has taken his first training session as Liverpool manager after arriving at Melwood on Monday morning.

The 48-year-old joined up with those in the Liverpool squad not involved in international football over the weekend.

Klopp, who agreed a three-year deal on Thursday, began his first training session alongside analyst and scout Peter Krawietz and existing first-team coach Pep Lijnders, although Zeljko Buvac, the German's long-time assistant, is yet to arrive on Merseyside.

Nine first-team players, including Kolo Toure, Dejan Lovren, Phillipe Coutinho, Daniel Sturridge, Mamadou Sakho and Lucas Leiva, took part in a session that lasted between 60 and 75 minutes.

Coutinho pulled out of Brazil's squad for World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Venezuela with a minor groin injury, but early indications are the 23-year-old will be available for Klopp's first match in charge at Tottenham on Saturday.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager is still to meet the majority of his first-team squad as nine senior players are currently out on international duty, while Joe Gomez and Jordon Ibe are away training with the England U21s ahead of Tuesday's match against Kazakhstan.

Jordan Henderson, Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino are still nursing injuries and were unable to train.

Meanwhile, Klopp has ruled out making a move for any of his former players at Dortmund, despite being recently linked with Germany internationals Marco Reus and Ilkay Gundogan.

"I have no intention whatsoever to lure Dortmund's stars to Liverpool," Klopp told German newspaper Die Bild.

"I am not interested in how much money I will be allowed to spend in January.

"It is only October and I don't even know how many games there are left until the winter. But we clearly have plenty of games left and we will be taking a look at our own players first."
