Dalcio joins Rangers on season-long loan deal from Benfica

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has arrived back in Glasgow with two of his transfer targets

Rangers have confirmed the signing of Benfica attacker Dalcio on a season-long loan deal.

The forward player will join up with the rest of the squad immediately after the team began their preparations for the new season just 15 days after the end of the previous campaign.

Dalcio joined Benfica from Belenenses in 2015 before having a spell back there on loan, where he gained experience in the Europa League, playing against Lech Poznan and Fiorentina.

He has represented Portugal at U19 and U20 level and last season he spent the bulk of his time with Benfica's 'B' team, making 33 appearances and scoring three times.

He becomes Rangers' third summer signing as Pedro Caixinha continues to rebuild his squad. Ryan Jack has moved to Ibrox on a free transfer from Aberdeen and Bruno Alves has joined for £500,000 from Cagliari.

"What attracted me was the history of the club, the size of the club, and mainly, the supporters - the amazing fans the club has," Dalcio told the club's official TV channel.

"The gaffer was a real influence on me too. I know he is really competitive and ambitious, and that was the reasons I wanted to join him.

Rangers finished third in the Scottish Premier League on their return to the SPL following a four-year hiatus and the Gers only have 24 days until the side begin their Europa League qualifying campaign on June 22, with their opponents yet to be drawn.

Rangers are also expected to complete the signings of Mexico forward Eduardo Herrera and his fellow international Carlos Pena this week, as the club continue an already busy summer of transfer activity.
