Gareth Bale opened his account for the new season by scoring a double in Real Madrid's La Liga 3-0 victory against Real Sociedad.
Bale took less than two minutes to break the deadlock, powerfully heading Dani Carvajal's cross past Geronimo Rulli.
The Wales interantional relishes his visits to San Sebastian and has now scored five goals in four appearances at the Anoeta, and he wrapped up victory with the final kick of the game after a surging run from midfield into the box to slot home from close-range.
With Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema missing, Bale was the sole member of the feared 'BBC' strikeforce to feature and Zidane felt he took responsibility despite a truncated pre-season after Wales' run to the semi-finals of Euro 2016.
"I'm happy for him, because he is physically behind the others and that has not been noticed," said the Real head coach.
He started in the best way, scoring early. This is a difficult place to come if you do not take your chances. Gareth has already said this one is an important year for him, and it is showing."
Watch Gareth Bale start the season in fine style with a double in Real Madrid's 3-0 victory at Real Sociedad.
