Claudio Bravo's potential move to Manchester City is in doubt due to an injury to fellow Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, according to Sky sources.
It is understood there is an agreement in place for City to sign Chile international Bravo from Pep Guardiola's former club, with the fee in the region of £17m.
However, any potential deal has been complicated by a knee injury to Ter Stegen, who is likely to be out for at least three weeks.
It is understood the process is on hold because of the problem, but a potential deal remains possible before the August 31 transfer deadline.
Should the 33-year-old Bravo move to the Etihad it would throw further doubt on the future of Joe Hart, who was left out of City's opening Premier League win over Sunderland on Saturday.
New City boss Guardiola confirmed that the England No 1 is unhappy at being replaced in the starting line-up by Willy Caballero but insisted the player has to convince him on the pitch.
He said: "All the players who don't play aren't sacked, they're absent. Of course, I would not be happy if absent, but now it is 'try again'.
"I am sorry, I have to decide [on the team]. We have 28 players. They have to convince me on the pitch."
