The action kicks off in January with the fourth instalment of the Quad Series where Australia, England, New Zealand and South Africa continue to battle it out.
And there will be an added edge to the six games that will take place in London and Johannesburg as preparations for all teams go up a notch with April's Commonwealth Games looming into view.
Tracey Neville has had her eye on England's pursuit of a gold medal on the Gold Coast as the natural end to this current cycle and a first Quad Series title would give them added momentum.
Australia won the first two editions, while New Zealand claimed the title in September, England have finished third in all three but picked up a hugely impressive victory in Auckland over the Kiwis in September to underline their progress.
The 2018 tournament kicks off with a double-header live on Sky Sports from the Copper Box on January 20 as England face South Africa and Australia take on New Zealand before the Roses face Australia at the same venue on January 22.
The action switches to Johannesburg on January 25 when South Africa take on New Zealand before the conclusion three days later at Ellispark Arena when England meet the Silver Ferns and the Aussie Diamonds take on the Proteas - all the action live on Sky Sports Mix.
After a short breather, the Vitality Superleague season begins in February and all eyes will be on whether anyone can stop Tamsin Greenway's defending champions, Wasps, who claimed the title in their first season.
2017 saw the league increased to 10 teams and the result was a dramatic domestic season that saw the race for the final play-off place go all the way to the final round of regular fixtures.
All 10 teams are back for 2018, while the end of season will revert to a semi-final Saturday on June 30 and the Grand Final a week later on Saturday July 7 - all three matches as the season reaches its conclusion will be live on Sky Sports.
Loughborough Lightning topped the standings, losing just one of their 18 games in the regular season but they were beaten by Wasps on a thrilling Finals weekend that featured the semi-finals on Saturday and final the very next day.
There are a host of new signings to look out for, including Wasps' capture of South Africa goal shooter Renske Stoltz and England centre Jade Clarke.

In the second half of the year, attention switches back to the international arena with another Quad Series in Australia and New Zealand in September and International Series against Jamaica and Uganda.
The short-form of the game will also keep everyone guessing as the Fast5 domestic and international competitions continue to attract and innovate.
