England Sevens all set for Las Vegas challenge, says Simon Amor

England Sevens boss Simon Amor expects his team to cope well with the "unique challenge" of this weekend's HSBC Las Vegas Sevens, live on Sky Sports.

The fifth stop of the World Rugby Sevens Series has taken the teams to the United States after previous tournaments in Dubai, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

The conditions in Las Vegas will be much different to those in Hamilton at the start of last month, but Amor is content with his team's preparations as they get set to take on Canada, Wales and South Africa in Pool B.

"We're really excited about the unique challenge that playing in Las Vegas will bring," said Amor.

"The narrow and recently resurfaced pitch lends itself to a more confrontational style of game, and while we must make sure our intensity in these contact areas is spot on, we must still play with accuracy and excitement.

"There's a short turnaround once you've had a chance to get over the jet-lag coming off the back of Hamilton, but we've worked extremely hard as a squad in preparation for Las Vegas and are looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead."

Amor has made one change to his squad that will be led by captain Tom Mitchell at the Sam Boyd Stadium, with Harry Glover returning after missing out in Hamilton, where England lost to New Zealand in the quarter-finals.

England face Canada (1.12am) and Wales (4.13am) in the early hours of Saturday morning before rounding off their Pool B campaign against South Africa, who currently top the series standings with 77 points, on Saturday evening (10.10pm).

Scotland feature in Pool D alongside New Zealand, Argentina and Uruguay.

New Zealand are second in the overall standings with 69 points, ahead of Fiji, who won last time out in Hamilton, third on 62, while England are sixth with 47.

Watch the Las Vegas Sevens live on Sky Sports Action from 10.50pm on Friday. The second day will be live on Sky Sports Arena from 9.50pm on Saturday, with the final day live on Sky Sports Action from 6.50pm on Sunday.
