All Blacks centre George Moala will join Clermont Auvergne next summer after agreeing a three-year deal.

The 27-year-old, who can also play on the wing and has won four caps for New Zealand, last featured for his country in their Chicago defeat to Ireland in November 2016.

"This versatile player has a profile that we were missing in our squad," said Clermont sporting director Franck Azema. "He's going to bring lots of strength to the middle of the pitch.

Injury-ravaged Clermont could use Moala now as Alivereti Raka, Camille Lopez, Noa Nakaitaci and former All Black Luke McAlister are all sidelined.

The Top 14 champions have won all four European matches this season, including back-to-back victories over hat-trick-chasing Saracens.
