Munster need to be more ruthless, captain Denis Leamy proclaimed, following their 19-15 defeat away to Ospreys.
Perfomance was a step backwards says skipper
Captain Denis Leamy has said his Munster side must be more ruthless following their 19-15 Heineken Cup defeat against Pool Three rivals Ospreys.
Leamy, who was particularly critical of his side's performance at the scrum, said he was bitterly disappointed that the Irish heavyweights had failed to convert their chances at Liberty Stadium.
The number eight warned that the two-time European champions must now win both of their remaining group games if they are to retain any hope of appearing in the quarter-finals for a 13th successive time.
"I thought we had our chances," he said. "When we get down so close to their line, we need to be converting those chances. We didn't today.
"It's just disappointing - it didn't happen for us. We came here to win, and it's gutting really."
Leamy continued: "We came out the other side of a lot of decisions at scrum-time. It was another disappointing aspect of the game.
Disappointed
"It's an area where we have improved greatly this season, and I think possibly today was a step backwards unfortunately.
"I was relieved they didn't score at the end. We did our very best to hold them out, but a losing bonus point is not a whole lot of comfort at this stage.
"I think we have to win both games that are left in the group."
Ospreys skipper Alun-Wyn Jones said his only complaint was that the Welsh team had failed to prevent Munster from securing a losing bonus point.
"We are a little bit disappointed we didn't stop them getting the losing bonus point but a win is a win for us," he said.
"We have got a bit to do in the group, but we will see where we are going into the last two rounds."
