With Alun Wyn Jones being handed the Wales captaincy for the Six Nations, we remember those big men who have gone on to make great captains for their countries.

The Ospreys lock replaces Sam Warburton, who had been captain since 2011 and skippered Wales on a record 49 occasions.

With 105 caps already to his name, Jones has plenty of experience and has not only stood in for Warburton on five occasions for Wales, but also skippered the Lions in the series-winning third Test against Australia in 2013.

Jones joins an impressive list of second rowers who have skippered their countries, but which lock is rated the best?

England fans of course will say that it starts and ends with Martin Johnson and it is easy to see why, however, there are some pretty strong candidates from around the world including Australia, South Africa and Ireland.
