Widnes will give a debut to Australian forward Jack Buchanan in Sunday's Super League fixture against Huddersfield at the Select Security Stadium.
The 24-year-old joined the Vikings on an 18-month deal from West Tigers earlier this month and has been named in Denis Betts' 19-man squad.
Betts has also called up 18-year-old loose forward Brad Walker, who has yet to make his Super League debut, while regular front-row pair Eamon O'Carroll and Gil Dudson drop out of the side that lost to Salford in Newcastle.
Huddersfield coach Paul Anderson is set to stick with the side that beat St Helens, with Scott Grix keeping Ryan Brierley out of the full-back role.
