Struggling Salford will hope to bounce back from last week's defeat to London Broncos when they host Huddersfield on Friday night.

The City Reds saw their play-off hopes suffer a potentially fatal blow when they were beaten in the capital, meaning they now sit four points off the top eight with just four rounds of the regular season remaining.

Head coach Phil Veivers has now seen his side lose their last three games, leaving them needing a dramatic turnaround to extend their campaign.

Former Huddersfield centre or second rower Chris Nero misses out on the chance to play against his former team after damaging his elbow against the Broncos.

Salford are also now resigned to being without influential centre Joel Moon for the rest of the campaign after he underwent a hernia operation this week.

However, there is better news for the hosts with the return of prop Iafeta Paleaaesina, who has recovered from a hamstring strain.

Stuart Howarth and Daniel Holdsworth are set to continue in the half-back roles with Sean Long still not fully fit following an operation on a broken thumb, meaning he is still yet to make his Super League comeback.

Huddersfield, meanwhile, head on their travels having finally ended a five-match losing run.

A pair of tries from winger Jermaine McGillvary helped secure Paul Anderson's first win as Giants coach with a 36-18 triumph over Catalan Dragons.

"The reality is that you're only as good as your last game and in the last game we showed some improvements but, if we don't keep improving, then we will become stuck again," said Anderson.

The visitors are boosted by the return of centre Joe Wardle, who is back from a 10-week absence and takes the place of Lee Gilmour.

Scott Moore is also poised to return after being rested for last week's win over Catalan, a result that pushed the seventh-placed Giants three points clear of nearest rivals Hull KR.
