A rampant New York Jets defense sacked Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor seven times, while Matt Forte ran in for two touchdowns, in a 34-21 win on Thursday Night Football.
Buffalo (5-3) came into the AFC East divisional clash having scored 64 points in their last two wins, but self-destructed with turnovers and miscues. In contrast, New York (4-5) have snapped a three-game losing streak with the surprise win.
Forte scored on runs of 10 and five yards in the third and fourth quarters as the Jets built a lead as great as 34-7 before the Bills scored a couple of late consolation touchdowns.
New York QB Josh McCown also got in on the fun with a 10-yard scramble for a TD to open the scoring. From there, the defense took over.
The Jets found a pass rush that has been missing for most of the year. They came in with 11 sacks, which was last among teams that had played eight games.
But, Jordan Jenkins had two of the Jets' seven sacks on the night, while Taylor fumbled late on when taken down for the sixth time. It was one of three lost fumbles for Buffalo, with Nick O'Leary's particularly bizarre.
The Bills tight end caught Taylor's third-down pass and fell to the ground untouched. He delayed, heard no whistle, and got up. But the ball then was stripped by Marcus Maye and recovered by Jamal Adams.
It was just one of several miscues on the night by Buffalo, who lose ground on AFC East leaders New England Patriots (6-2) with the defeat.
