Oakland Raiders may have moved a step closer to relocating to Las Vegas

The Raiders will file relocation paperwork to move from Oakland to Las Vegas, according to NFL.com.
The unprecedented venture to Vegas would make the Raiders the first major sports team to play in the city.
The Raiders require 24 votes from the 32 NFL franchise owners to rubber-stamp their proposed relocation, a process which can take approximately six weeks.
The new Las Vegas Stadium, a $1.9 billion project owned by casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, remains an option to host Raiders’ home games but there is no confirmed plan of how to finance that idea.
The Raiders’ relocation proposal comes days after the Chargers ended 56 years in San Diego by announcing a move to Los Angeles.
The Raiders themselves used to call Los Angeles home for 13 years before returning to Oakland in 1995, but have been exploring options for a new stadium for some time due to the expiring lease on the Alameda Coliseum.
A consideration to return to Los Angeles, in nearby Inglewood, was scuppered when the Chargers exorcised their option to play in the city earlier this month.
