Martin Kaymer feels he can be encouraged by his recent performances ahead of his final appearance of the year at the Thailand Golf Championship.
The German admits to having had a disappointing campaign, with a winless 2015 seeing the Ryder Cup winner falling to 27th in the world rankings, but believes his game is heading back in the right direction ahead of the final event of the year.
Kaymer finished runner-up in September's Open D'Italia and also ended the European Tour season-ending DP World Tour Championship inside the top-10, with the 30-year-old now looking to finish his 2015 with a first victory since last June's US Open.
"It has been a long season for all of us but I have been playing really well recently," Kaymer told a pre-tournament press conference. "The results perhaps haven't reflected that but this is my last tournament of the year and I'm going to give it a really good go.
"There are a lot of world ranking points at stake here and winning the tournament would take care of that (rise in the rankings).
"I really enjoyed the whole event last year. I was surprised how big the event is here in Thailand which is why I decided to come back.
"I have many very good memories of the golf course and if I can play one or two shots better here I can finally win."
2013 champion Sergio Garcia and recent Ho Tram Open winner is one of three players in action looking for a second win in as many weeks, with world No 4 Bubba Watson and Australian PGA winner Nathank Holman also in the field
"I haven't won in a while, so it (Ho Tram Open victory) gives me a lot of confidence heading into Thailand, where I have enjoyed success in the past," Garcia said. "To repeat the win in Thailand would be the perfect way to head into the Christmas break"
Lee Westwood returns to Bangkok as defending champion, while Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke, Turkish Airlines Open winner Victor Dubuisson and home favourite Thongchai Jaidee also feature .
