Striker Freddie Ladapo scored twice as Plymouth eased to a 5-1 League One home win over 10-man Rochdale.
Ladapo fired Argyle ahead on 26 minutes from the edge of the box as they dominated a first half in which Dale keeper Andy Lonergan - on emergency loan from Middlesbrough - made a string of outstanding saves either side of the goal.
Argyle briefly looked like they would rue those missed opportunities when Matt Done pounced on a poor Ryan Edwards pass back to Kyle Letheren and raced on to slot past the keeper on 48 minutes.
But Rochdale were reduced to 10 men on 58 minutes when defender Ethan Ebanks-Landell handled a pass from Ruben Lameiras destined to put Ladapo in on goal.
Within three minutes Argyle central defender Edwards scored from close range as Dale failed to clear their lines following Graham Carey's corner, and Ladapo then took his season's tally to 15 goals with a solo effort in the 75th minute.
Substitute Oscar Threlkeld fired home from the edge of the box four minutes after his 81st-minute introduction and in stoppage time full-back Ashley Smith-Brown smashed home to make it 5-1.
