Leicester striker Jamie Vardy can rejuvenate "predictable" international football, according to team-mate Kasper Schmeichel.
Vardy is currently the Premier League's top goalscorer with 11 in 11 games, and he scored in his eighth consecutive top-flight match against West Brom on Saturday.
The 28-year-old made his England debut in May this year and has since picked up four caps, and Schmeichel believes he is currently the best striker in the Premier League.
"I think he's exactly what international football needs," Schmeichel told Sky Sports' Goals On Sunday.
"It can get very tactical and predictable but he's unpredictable. He definitely deserves his chance to play down the middle [for England] and, for me, he's the best striker in the Premier League right now.
"He drags us through and sets the tone every game. When you clear the defence or hit long balls, he can still make something happen.
"He chases everything down and never gives up and I think that's what international football needs."
Schmeichel joined Leicester in 2011 and has played under three managers, playing an instrumental part in the side that was promoted to the top-flight under Nigel Pearson in 2014.
Saturday's sixth victory of the campaign lifted Leicester to third in the table and the Denmark international believes the current group is the best he has been a part of.
"We were always going to start well with the momentum we built last season. We've found a way to win games in the Premier League," he said.
"The feel at the club, from the owners right down to the players, is fantastic. We have fantastic owners and they look after us so well. They provide us with everything to go and be successful.
"We have a manager who is very good too. At the time Nigel Pearson was the best manager I'd had and I had a great connection with him. But Claudio has come in and done exceptionally well.
"You're always apprehensive about what the new guy is going to bring. But he hasn't changed a lot. He's seen there is a club that works well when other managers might want to change things.
"The great thing, and it's a very good move by our owners, is that our backroom staff is the same. He has only added a few of his own. He can come in with fresh ideas and they can add what they know of Claudio over the years."
