Crystal Palace have triggered Andros Townsend's £13m release clause and the Newcastle winger is on his way to London to undergo a medical.
According to Sky sources, the medical will take place on Thursday evening at City of London Hospital and Townsend will then sign a five-year deal with the Eagles, though final terms are still being discussed.
Townsend joined Newcastle from Tottenham in January having dropped down the pecking order at Spurs.
The 24-year-old scored four goals in 13 appearances for Newcastle, who saw Steve McClaren sacked but failed to avoid relegation to the Championship under the management of Rafael Benitez.
Despite his resurgence in form at St James' Park, Townsend was left out of Roy Hodgson's England squad for Euro 2016 in France, which ended in a last-16 defeat against Iceland in Nice on Monday.
Newcastle are in talks with Bournemouth over a deal for winger Matt Ritchie to come in as a replacement for Townsend.
The Magpies are also close to finalising a deal to sign striker Dwight Gayle from Palace after he had a medical on Wednesday. That move is understood to not be contingent on Palace's potential deal to bring Townsend to Selhurst Park.
