Wales defender Chris Gunter reveals he set to miss a big family event, if his side beat Belgium on Friday

Chris Gunter’s brother risks getting married with no family present next week due to Wales’ success at the European Championships.

Gunter's parents are currently in France as Wales prepare to face Belgium in Lille on Friday for a place in the semi-finals of Euro 2016.

But his brother Marc is due to get married in Mexico next week and Chris is pencilled in to be the best man.

"My parents were meant to be flying out on Saturday but they are going to wait now and see if we win on Friday. If we win then they are not going to Mexico to the wedding," Gunter told Sky Sports News HQ.

"My brother is fine with it and I don't think he really wants to be going to Mexico. He's been at every game and he's missing Friday which he is gutted about.

"My mum is obviously upset at having to choose between the two of us if it comes to that, but there will be nobody happier than my brother if he has nobody from our side at the wedding.

"It's a nice little side story, but obviously he is missing Friday. I've never wanted to miss a wedding so much in my life."

Gunter's Wales team-mate Neil Taylor added: "I'm sure he wants to be here and there but that's not possible. We've waited many years to be at the Euros, hopefully they can redo the wedding for him afterwards!"
