Former Chelsea and Barcelona striker Eidur Gudjohnsen has joined FC Pune City as their marquee player for the third edition of the Indian Super League (ISL).
The 37-year-old joins Pune as a free agent following a six-month spell with Norwegian side Molde where he played under former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Gudjohnsen has spent more than 20 years in professional football and is well-known to English football fans after two spells at Bolton, and featuring in the Premier League for clubs including Chelsea, Tottenham, Stoke and Fulham.
The experienced forward made two substitute appearances for Iceland at Euro 2016, captaining his country when he took to the field for the final eight minutes of their 5-2 quarter-final loss to tournament hosts France.
Gudjohnsen joins former Premier League players Diego Forlan, Aaron Hughes, Helder Postiga and John Arne Riise as marquee signings in this year's ISL, which kicks off in Guwahati on October 1.
Another former Chelsea player, ex-France international Florent Malouda, is expected to be officially announced as the marquee signing for Delhi Dynamos before the end of the week.
