Gennaro Gattuso has been handed a new contract by AC Milan following an upturn in the club's fortunes since he took over as head coach.
Gattuso was initially given a contract until the end of the season following Vincenzo Montella's departure last November, and was only able to win one of his first five league games in charge.
But there has been a marked improvement from Milan since the New Year with eight wins out of 11 leaving them sixth in the table.
They have also reached the Coppa Italia final, prompting Milan to reward their former midfielder, who made 468 appearances for the club, with a three-and-a-half-year contract.
"The management decided to bring forward Gattuso's contract renewal to reward his hard work the best way before the end of the season," the club said in a statement.
