Mallorca midfielder Felipe Melo looks likely to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. The Brazilian joined the Balearic outfit during the winter transfer window from Gremio and has made seven appearances for The Islanders.
However, he looks to have played his last game this term after damaging ligaments in his right knee against Valencia last weekend.
Melo was forced off 11 minutes from time and will play no further part in his side's increasingly forlorn attempt to avoid relegation.
Meanwhile, defender Fernando Nino also looks set for an extended spell on the sidelines due to an Achilles injury.
It is not yet known how long the 30-year-old centre back will be out of action, but he will definitely miss next weekend's trip to Numancia.
There is better news of midfielder Juan Arango, though, who has resumed training following the fractured cheekbone he sustained against Sevilla last month.
The Venezuelan was on the end of an elbow from Javi Navarro - who subsequently received a five-match ban - and was kept in hospital under observation for three days following the incident.
Arango has only undertaken some light exercises and is still some way from a first-team return.
